Copyrights, Fair Use, Cyberbullying & Nettiquete...

While reading about copyright laws and fair use I began to get a bit nervous, how do I make sure I don't break any laws? There are a lot of rules to keep in mind when deciding what information can be used.  It is tempting to just avoid the whole issue all together and only use what is provided in the curriculum, even though they did attempt to "dumb it down" for those of us that see all this as a bunch of gibberish. How on earth do you measure 10% of a video?  I feel a little better knowing that education facilities have a pass that allows for more liberal rules on fair use, but it would be handy to have a lawyer around to keep me out of trouble.  After reading through the information I feel a little less intimidated, but I will definitely proceed with caution.

The issues of cyberbullying and nettiquete to me go hand in hand.  Bullies all should simply know better, the fact that they have found yet another way to torture their peers is very frustrating.  I teach my kids the golden rule, treat others the way you want to be treated.  If it would hurt your feelings to have something personal shared about you online, then don't do it to others, always think about how they would feel if they were to see it and know others could see it too.  It is very important to teach these things to kids of all ages, there are consequences for all that we do, good or bad, and we should always be prepared to face them.  If we teach our kids to see things from the other point of view before making choices, a lot of hurt feelings could be avoided.  Some things just can't be taken back.

  2. copyright can be avoided you are so right about that. Also, can be nervous at the same time too. you should give people their credit for there creation there is plenty of websites to help you avoid these problems they show were trademarks already used, and put words or phases into google or other search engine and it would show you if the word or phase was used by someone else.
